DGSM - Directorate General for Specifications and Measurements
The Directorate General of Specifications and Measurements (DGSM) under the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) oversees standardization, metrology, testing, quality control, conformity assessment, certification, and accreditation. All imported products must comply with quality and standards regulations before being placed on the Omani market.
Omani/GCC standards
Under Oman’s certification framework, manufacturers must apply either the G-Mark or the Omani Quality Mark on their products. As a member of the GCC Customs Union, Oman aligns its conformity systems with the Gulf Standards Organization (GSO). Most Omani standards are based on GSO regulations or adapted from international standards. If no GCC standards exist, internationally recognized standards are accepted.
Gulf Conformity Mark (G-Mark) is the official conformity label of the Gulf Cooperation Council, placed on products or packaging to show compliance with applicable Gulf Technical Regulations.
Omani Quality Mark is issued by DGSM after inspection and testing to confirm compliance with approved Omani standards.
Telecom Type Approval
Telecom Type Approval is mandatory for Radio and Telecommunications Terminal Equipment (RTTE). Devices must comply with technical specifications and be registered with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) before being placed on the market. Applications are submitted via the TRA e-portal and supported with test reports and technical documentation. Approved equipment must carry the TRA label on the product or packaging, along with dealer information.
